“Established at Notre Dame in 1883, the Laetare Medal was conceived as an American counterpart of the Golden Rose, a papal honor that antedates the 11th century. The medal has been awarded annually at Notre Dame to a Catholic “whose genius has ennobled the arts and sciences, illustrated the ideals of the Church and enriched the heritage of humanity.” On March 15, 2015, it was announced that Aaron would be receiving the 2015 Laetare Medal at Notre Dame’s 170th University Commencement ceremony. That ceremony occurred two months later on May 17.

Other sources disagree with the date…  (The gentleman in the black sport coat over a purple Neville t-shirt is Shane Theriot, who had a 7-year-long stint as the Nevilles’ guitarist. Among his many other credits, Theriot went on to become Hall & Oates’s musical director and guitarist. Most recently, Theriot co-produced Dr. John’s posthumous LP, “Things Happen That Way.”)
